Horroscope was my go-to "wake up and get the blood pumping" album back in law school. Horroscope is unique because all of the songs are reasonably upbeat beat-wise but the lyrics are the opposite of saccharine or boring, so it fit my mood and kept my mind engage. I had a horrific commute -- up at 4am to take the Marc train from east Baltimore to Union Station, then the DC Metro up to Bethesda.
Ever since, Inside Out & Promise have been my go-to karaoke songs because people are always startled that I (as someone who has always had a pretty hardcore responsible-white-girl vibe, I *look* like I should be singing Strawberry Wine) can pull it off and know all the words. But the "Heart in a Blender" song is a favorite and Eve 6 is to this day the only band I've ever done the VIP early-access ticket thing for.
